TOMAS FERDINAND
Tomas Ferdinand , a Dutch singer-songwriter from The Hague. There is no well-known Dutch artist listed as “Tomas Ferdanat.”
Tomas Ferdinand is a Dutch indie-pop / folk-pop singer-songwriter. He grew up in The Hague and, at 27, moved to Berlin to work full-time as a musician. In Berlin he found collaborators and began writing songs that sit between intimate singer-songwriter material and polished indie pop.
Early releases appeared under the name Ferdinant. on the Berlin indie label St. Vladimir, including the debut EP Kerosene. He later adopted Tomas Ferdinand after people started calling him Tommy. Writer credits also list Tomas Rabbering, which appears to be his real surname.
His best-known tracks are streaming-era singles rather than Dutch chart hits:
World Full of Color (2020) — over 12 million Spotify streams
Airplanes (2020) — over 11 million streams
Crossroads, Sister, Boys Don’t Cry, Liquorice, Soothe
In 2023 he released the EP Weakdays (produced with James Chatburn) on St. Vladimir, with tracks including Weakday, Grace, Bird, Stay with Me, and Weight of the World. He was selected for the Dutch talent tour Popronde in 2023 and has played in Amsterdam as well as Berlin.
His music is English-language, emotional, and cinematic—often described as delicate folk-pop with modern production. He is an independent artist with a modest but active following (tens of thousands of monthly listeners), not a mainstream Dutch pop star.
